Hi I’m Devon Welsh,
I used to release music as part of Majical Cloudz and now I release music under my own name. A friend suggested I should start a newsletter for fans of my music, and I thought it wasn’t a bad idea, so I’m doing it.
If you’re not signed up for it, sign up here:
What am I going to post about? Well, I just released a new album called True Love. You can get it for ANY PRICE YOU WANT (including zero dollars) on my Bandcamp here. If you want to get a Vinyl LP of True Love, you can do that at my Bandcamp page as well. This is what the cover looks like:

You’re still here?! Incredible! I also want to use this newsletter to share my poetry & other writing. I promise I won’t overdo it, I know poetry sucks. Here is a poem though.
The joy in automation
Scientists predict we will be having sex
in driverless vehicles. Each quarter we surpass
the textbooks, what we were taught
about where we would do it and how
it would be done, and with whom. We have to study
things like this. We need to know how our new inventions
will be used, and we can never really know.
The perfect non-absorbent material, angles of the seats, headroom.
Which commands will trigger the engine into overdrive.
The first driverless orgasm is in the scientific literature.
Joy begins with the senses. Round things are such
joyful shapes because they are the safest ones.
So the car should be round. The seats should be round.
We cannot be making love in joyless vehicles.
We cannot let our love become joyless.
Colour is life, so the car should be colourful.
We cannot make love to dead things.
We study who does what with whom, and how, and what they use to do it.
We do it to improve these things
so they can be joyful.
Scientists say joyless objects
are killing us. They say we should be putting ourselves
in the path of joy more often. We cannot be
putting ourselves in the path of joyless
automated vehicles full of people having joyless, colourless, automated sex.
Our observations will prevent it.
Still with me? Thank you so much! I also want to share books I’ve been reading and enjoying. In this case it’s Permanent Record by Edward Snowden. I think this book is essential reading for anyone who owns a smartphone or spends time on the internet (which is probably everyone reading this).
I will be using this newsletter to post about things I’m doing with music, to talk about touring, to share more writing, and other things as well. Thank you for reading all the way to the end of the newsletter.
If you think, “Wow, this is great! I want to share this with friends!” just click here:
Thank you and talk to you soon!
Sincerely,
Devon Welsh
